<p>We went from asking for a Dutch Colonial on a walk-out basement to a Swedish Country House on a crawlspace. </p>

<p>If you&#8217;re not familiar with the Swedish Country House style, here are a few examples:</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Lysekil_Roe_gaard_IMG_7159.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-356" srcset="http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Lysekil_Roe_gaard_IMG_7159.jpg 1024w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Lysekil_Roe_gaard_IMG_7159-300x200.jpg 300w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Lysekil_Roe_gaard_IMG_7159-768x512.jpg 768w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Lysekil_Roe_gaard_IMG_7159-720x480.jpg 720w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Lysekil_Roe_gaard_IMG_7159-500x333.jpg 500w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Courtesy of Bjoertvedt, by <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en">Creative Commons 3.0</a></figcaption></figure></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Ljungdalen_December_2016_05.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-357" srcset="http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Ljungdalen_December_2016_05.jpg 1024w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Ljungdalen_December_2016_05-300x169.jpg 300w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Ljungdalen_December_2016_05-768x432.jpg 768w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Ljungdalen_December_2016_05-500x281.jpg 500w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Ljungdalen_December_2016_05-853x480.jpg 853w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Arild Vgen, Used via <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/deed.en">Creative Commons License 4.0</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Swedish artist Carl Larsson and his family lived in such a house in Sundborn. The house is still there, and can be toured. It also features prominently in his artwork.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="669" src="https://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Frukost_under_stora_bjorken_av_Carl_Larsson_1896.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-358" srcset="http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Frukost_under_stora_bjorken_av_Carl_Larsson_1896.jpg 1024w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Frukost_under_stora_bjorken_av_Carl_Larsson_1896-300x196.jpg 300w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Frukost_under_stora_bjorken_av_Carl_Larsson_1896-768x502.jpg 768w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Frukost_under_stora_bjorken_av_Carl_Larsson_1896-500x327.jpg 500w, http://vintageamericanapodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/1024px-Frukost_under_stora_bjorken_av_Carl_Larsson_1896-735x480.jpg 735w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Carl Larsson</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>This is a Swedish Tile stove. Not ours, which is still in pieces. But one with a similar basic structure &#8211; rectangular base with columnar chimney. </p>

<p>You can see photos of our tile stove, as it lay at the salvage yard, and some of the tiles cleaned up <a href="https://brambleberrymeadow.com/2018/03/25/laying-plans/">over on my blog</a>.</p>

<p>Elevations for the house:</p>
